A large force that shapes many signals at once. Drivers are often grouped as social, technological, economic, environmental and political. Mapping them shows which forces a college cannot control but must account for.
Background
Foresight work often sorts drivers with the STEEP categories: social, technological, economic, environmental and political. Some versions add values or legal factors. The categories work as a checklist that keeps a scan from missing whole areas of change.
